The is one of the best punk-ska records you've never heard. One slow punk anthem, two up-tempo punk rock songs, a fast ska-punk song, and one of the best eighties ska songs I've ever heard.
This band was from Connecticut and I don't know anything else about them.
I say this a lot, but I can't believe this record isn't more well known.
Listen to the first track "Loathe".
See what I mean?
1 Loathe
2 Violence Breeds Violence
3 Undone
4 Nothing from Something
5 Barren Terror

Thanks for kind words.... I'm the singer and one of the guitar players from Painted Saints. I can't believe this record's still making the rounds!
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm the drummer from Painted Saints. Thanks for the kind words. You have me considering re-releasing the EP. The band broke up in 1989, and we've never played a reunion gig. Lead guitar player died 10 years ago. Bass player is on the West Coast. Singer/guitarist (my brother) and I are still in Connecticut.
ReplyDeleteGrotto!
ReplyDeletePainted Saint's Bassist here! Hello and thank you for the review. That was a great record to make and the Pastafarian horn section were tits! I miss playing with my brothers in CT, and have fond memories of our lead guitarist Pat. It happened but nobody noticed. Stoked to have been a part of that little blip of New Haven history!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine used to make cassette tapes for me and send them from Richmond. This was on one of those tapes and I played it constantly until the tape stretched and was unplayable. Finally found the vinyl on eBay and bought it a couple of years ago. Never thought I’d get to hear it again but good things come to those who wait!
