Graduate was not a ska band. They released only one album in 1980 before becoming Tears For Fears. This is the only ska song that either Graduate or Tears For Fears recorded. This single was in response to Elvis Costello complaining about how everybody seemed to be hopping on the ska bandwagon and nobody cared much for his sound at that time.

ReplyDeleteExcellent post dear blogger, but I think you'd add something about ska punk, the characteristics of this genre vary, due to the fusion of contrasting genres. The more punk-influenced style often features faster tempos, guitar distortion, on beat punk rock-style interludes (usually the chorus), and punk-style vocals and would be nice if you can attach some information and links about this bands too. 23jj
