This 1981 E.P. is the follow up to the Hoovers 1980 album '
Skin and Blisters' and, unfortunately, their final recording. Though the lead singers British accent is real, the band was actually from San Francisco, California. The 2Tone sound never really caught on in the states and The Hoovers disappeared into obscurity.

Do you have their earlier LP "Skin and Blisters"? 1980 Paradigm/Airstrip Records.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. They sound so much like Madness, it's scary.
Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThe Hoovers (With Paul Whiting and William Sell) are actually back together and have a new album called Toy. See their site: http://www.the-hoovers.com

It's an interesting mix of styles. Still some ska, but also other influences as well. Released in August of 2008.
It's nice to hear Paul Whiting's voice again.
