Alerte à Skalibu - Alerte à Skalibu demo tape (1996)

If you are a fan of Lord Skalipsoul you may be surprised at this early recording. He later moved on to do calypso and reggae but this first release is strictly 2 Tone style ska. Lots of covers on this tape but they are done in a unique style. Just when you thought you can't stand to hear another cover version of "Night Boat to Cairo" I think you'll appreciate this one. As Randy Jackson would say - they made it their own, dog.

Alerte à Skalibu was formed in 1996 in Nice and very quickly established itself as one of the premiere  groups in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d´Azur region. It is made up of Thierry on vocals, Benouz the drummer, Mina the basist, Cyro the guitarist, Bruno the pianist, on percussion Fato, Sbe the violinist, Topo the trumpeter, Flo and Guillaume on the saxophone, Mary the flutist and Alex the engineer.
This fine troupe offers a very punchy Ska Roots, tinged with calypso and Dubmusic. They also opened for many artists such as: De la Colline, Spook and the Guay, Gnawa Diffusion, Boulegue's Bigrade, Macka B, Raspigaous as well as the Skatalites, The Scofflaws, Israel Vibration, The Gladiators, Hepcat, LKJ… In 1999, the group released a 4 song EP called "Train to Alphonsoville".

In 2004 the album "In the Studio" was released under the name Lord Skalipsoul & the Skalibu All Stars which included the songs from the EP.

In 2007 Lord Skalipsoul turned to the roots of Jamaican music: Calypso; and under the name of King Selewa (and his Calypsonians) he released two albums and numerous compilations on the prestigious
English label of world music:
Arc Music, until 2009! In 2010, still under the name King Selewa, he signed with the Cezame Music Agency label and released an album “Jamaican Roots”.

It was in 2016 that King Selewa / Lord Skalipsoul decided to return to service under the influence of his very first guitarist, Vlad e.
They thus form THE SKALIPSOULS, a group distilling a mixture of Ska 60's and revival, Rock Steady, Reggae and offer an explosive show combining compositions and adaptations.

The Odd Band - Christmas on the Dole 7'' (1981)

A - Christmas on the Dole

B - Christmas Dub

(I don't know why it's called "Christmas Dub". It's not a dub. It's an instrumental version of the A-Side but with some weird Chipmunk-like vocals over it. It's weird.)

Ska-Humbug - On the Floor and More (1994)

Ska Humbug was a ska-punk band who released their demo tape in 1993 called "On the Floor". It had five tracks.

The following year they re-released it with four new songs and they re-titled the demo "On the Floor and More".

I had both tapes at one point and I can assure you that "On the Floor and More" has the exact same recordings as "On the Floor" so there's no need to post both versions but this is the cover to the first version:

1 Dan Graves

2 Ruder Than Your Dad

3 99 Red Balloons

4 Ska Love

5 Spy Vs. I

6 hA SKumbug

7 Fucked Up

8 Sound System
