My girlfriend, who is German, tells me it means "the hoodlums from Frauenholz". Where Frauenholz is I'll probably never know. Even the almighty Google seems to have no clue.
Really great blog, btw! I know I don't comment as much as I should but I'm a big fan. Keep it up. -Jay
Die Strolche vom Frauenholz means strollers from Frauenholz. i have chosen this wort becouse i think stroller has the same base as strolch and the stroller is ranger/rogue. Frauenholz is name of city in germany and the translation is womanswood.....
In germony they're not quite considered a punk band rather new german wave and not well known to the 20something's. Only after the 2007 reunion they labelled themselves a punk band http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=United_Balls&redirect=no
I'd translate it "the rascals from the understor(e)y" or shrubbery (BE) you can add the term females that's what "frauen" means. the "Frauenholz" is a place even far off the outskirts of munich. a small gloomy sherwood forest -if you like- you cross to get to the next village.
"Frauenholz" was a camp for homeless families in the north part of Munich (Bavaria). Initially it was built as part of a military school in about 1937, then after WWII used as a camp for displaced persons mainly from Russia and Ukraine. The baracks were demolished in the late 60s after the new nearby district Hasenbergl was built. The old name "Frauenholz" derives from an old hermitage that was founded by duke Wilhelm V. in 1600 at the same place. Frauenholz used to be a fairly rough district in the 70s with lots of rockers and poor people.
By the way: Does anybody have the third United Balls album "Hobo"? I used to know the band and once owned the CD but lost it years ago.
