The Review - Crash Course demo (1980)

The Review were a mod/punk band from ClevedonU.K. who only ever released one 7" in their time as a band but they did record a lot of demo songs.

This is their only real ska song that I know of besides their cover of Symarip's "Skinhead Girl".

I just saw that the YouTube channel UK PUNK DEMOS had posted this demo in 2022 and even though I'm a regular attendee of that blog I overlooked this one.

The YouTube channel I'm posting here disordertaf includes other tracks not on the demo that's on UK PUNK DEMOS including "Skinhead Girl".

Sluggo - 1994 demo tape

Three incredible ska tracks from Sluggo (Derek Grant from Suicide Machines / Skolars).

Five Men Down - FMD demo tape (1998)

This was posted a couple days ago on a YouTube channel called Chairshot to the Skull. It's a rare ska punk (more punk than ska) six-track demo tape from this Naperville, Illinois band.

A Letter To My Constituency...

Just a quick post to show that I am not dead and the blog is not over.

I still have lots of cool stuff to share and I'll eventually get around to doing so.

I am working 6 days a week for 9 hours a day. I look forward to my one day off each week because I get to do super exciting things like going grocery shopping, cleaning out the house, car, and garage, and doing laundry. So, not a lot of time for music.

I have lots of cassettes but I don't think any of them are really anything anybody would really care about. I' have already posted all of my great ska cassettes and all I have left are "reggae" stuff and punk demos with one or two ska-ish songs, I'll post them all eventually just to put them out there but I know those posts will elicit the "This blog used to be cool but know it sucks" comments. And that's fair.

And I do read the comments. I have a few requests for re-posts and I intend to post them all. Next Friday is Juneteenth in America and I will have a full three-day weekend so I hope to do a lot of stuff for this blog over those three days including every re-up request. No promises but I will try.

Anyway, as long as I have been doing this blog I had a rule about not posting other people's stuff without their permission but I have been finding so much good stuff online lately that I feel like it would be irresponsible of me to keep it to myself and not share it. I do make Facebook posts with some of the stuff I find but I know a lot of you aren't on Facebook so I have decided that it's okay to share my findings as long as I give the original posters credit and not act like it's my own stuff.

So, just to keep the blog from going silent for months at a time I will post stuff that I find online.

For example - this cassette is currently for sale on eBay. It is a rare ska tape from 1988 from a California band.

The seller is asking $70 which I believe is a realistic price and I would buy it myself but I already have it (on MP3) so I don't need it.

Not to undercut the seller but you can also get the MP3 version for free because the band made it available for free download on Bandcamp. They didn't use the original cover but it's the same album.

DOWNLOAD it HERE

Stay tuned. I'll be posting a lot more often but not every post will be great but it's better than not posting anything at all.
