See, the thing is...

I recently obtained two rare cassettes that I have been trying to find for a very long time. Now I have them and both of my cassette players stopped working. I haven't had a chance to even hear these tapes yet.

A few months back my record player stopped working and that's why I haven't been posting records. I saved up and finally got myself a new record player and my computer is not recognizing it.

It sounds like I'm at a stand still as far as the blog is concerned but I have ripped a lot of records and tapes over the years that I have never posted because I never thought they were really good enough compared to the other stuff I have. But that's okay. Sometimes I post absolute gems and the audience yawns. And then I post some basic bullshit and the audience goes wild.

Ultimately it's really not for me to decide what would make a good blog post. I'm just going to post all of it.

Sense of pride? No. Sense of accomplishment? Yes.

Now, that being said, - I mentioned before that I often find great stuff online and I need to be sharing it with you so that's the point of this post. This is none of my own stuff so take it or leave it. Enjoy.

I found a demo tape from the 80s by a band called "Wind at Night" and the third track on this demo is a ska song called "Red Sweat". It was posted by a YouTube channel called occupiedmind. Check it out. It's the third song on the tape starting at the 8:00 mark.

Here's a weird one. Halloween is coming up. This is not really ska but 80s new wave with a ska influence. It's interesting to hear a time or two but it will never be on your "Greatest Hits of the 80s" compilations.

The Fibonaccis "Leroy"

The Tapes - Call Me

Another one that is not ska but new wave with ska-influence. A great song nonetheless.

Have you heard this one before?

Hermine - Happy Holidays (1982)

I can show you these songs but I can't say of they are good or bad. That's for you to decide.

Okay, so, if you need to cleanse your palate try this

The Brewts - self titled album from this Ann-Arbor Michigan band from 1998 on the Internet Archive.

There's lots more but that's just some shit I heard today.

I'll post more of my random findings. Some are better than others but it's all out there and we're here now.
